Social Media and Its impact on children

In the cutting edge era, social media is on the peak of the internet. Although it makes it very easy for everyone to gain knowledge, get entertained, and be informed about what’s happening in the world, it has its negative impacts also. Social media has the biggest influence on children’s lives and their minds. They believe almost everything they see on the internet and also share it with their friends and relatives. It is one of the biggest reasons for spreading of the rumors and false news. Social media allows people to post about their lives and lifestyles because of which a sense of jealousy and negative motivation develops in the minds of the children. They get influenced and start to perform the same acts as they had seen. This can include fraudulent activities and other unfair practices like discrimination, hacking, bullying, black mailing, phishing, impersonating, and so on. Social media has made it very normal to criticize and bully people on the internet, people do it for fun without having any idea about how badly it can affect the victims.

When children use social media from a very young age, they develop an invariable habit of using it, which in return harms their mental as well as physical development. Nowadays, the average age of children having a mobile phone starts from 12 to13 years old. This means children are growing up and developing values from these electronic resources instead of their home and elders, this can hinder their upbringing and overall development.

In conclusion, the social media can be a great resource to gain knowledge and education but it also has its cons that can be way more dangerous than we can think of. So, making our young generation understand and implement the proper and ethical use of it will contribute to a great benefit for everyone or else it will be a disaster for upcoming generations.
